ABOUT THE STUDIO
THE STUDIO | Established in 2010, CFK Interiors is a boutique interior design studio headed by Claudia Kalur. It is based in Washington Depot, Litchfield County, Connecticut, and it works on high-end residential projects in the USA and the UK.
The studio offers a bespoke approach to design services, aimed at creating beautiful and livable spaces that fit our clients' lifestyle. Our aesthetic is defined by a love of texture and fabrics, of colour (including neutrals), and, mostly, attention to detail. We believe that good design is timeless, beyond trends and fads, and we aim to create chic, beautiful and comfortable spaces that make you never want to leave home.
CLAUDIA KALUR | Claudia was born in Lisbon, Portugal, where she studied History of Art. She moved to London to do a Master's Degree in Egyptology and a handful of years (and a short stay in Egypt on excavations as a ceramicist) later, Claudia moved to New York City as a researcher for the Metropolitan Museum of Art. But interior design had been Claudia's passion since the age of 13 and continued strongly through her Egyptology years.
In 2005, when her husband changed careers to architecture, she decided it was time to pursue her calling too... After studying at KLC School of Design, in London, and gaining valuable experience working for renowned architects and interior designers in New York and Connecticut, Claudia was ready to start her own firm.
OUR SERVICES | CFK Interiors offers full interior design services, from the concept and design phase, through purchasing and final installation. Our scope of work ranges from full design of a single room to an entire house or property and we often work closely with architects and builders in projects that involve architectural design and construction from the ground-up.
We pride ourselves in providing great service and results and do it with the help of a group of trusted vendors, craftsmen and installers.
CFK Interiors has worked on projects on the East Coast, from Connecticut, Massachusetts and New York City to Florida, as well as across the USA. We are also available to work internationally, and are currently working on a pied-a-terre in London, UK.
THE DESIGN PROCESS | The design process consists of three phases: The initial phase starts with getting to know the client's needs and desires and the nature of the project, which will allow us to establish the overall look and feel. We will then create the full design and present it to the client, aided with drawings, floor plans, boards and samples.
The second phase involves the detailing and purchasing of all items. We often design custom pieces of furniture (upholstery and casegoods) and all the details are finalised at this point. Once the space is ready and all pieces available, we reach the last phase, where the initial vision becomes reality - all will be installed by a team of professionals under our supervision and the space will be ready for handover to our clients.
